TOOL FOR SOCIAL CHANGE 13-17 MAY 2013, PAX LODGE, LONDON

Dear Sir/Madam,

            This is to inform that the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is happy to share you with this wonderful opportunity to be a part of a new and exciting global project- Participatory photography as a tool for social change.

            WAGGGS has partnered with Photo voice- a photography charity- to implement this initiative on child and maternal health in line with the 2013 World Thinking Day themes of MDGs 4 and 5.

            The project aims to teach and empower girls and young women aged 15-24 to use photography as a way of exploring the state of child and maternal health issues in their communities, and a tool for social change, which will amplify their voices locally and internationally through showcasing their photos in exhibitions. It is an excellent opportunity to be part of the global efforts to save children’s and mothers’ lives and raise awareness in your community and globally. The detail of the Event is as under:-

1.         Theme            -             SAVING CHILDREN’S AND MOTHERS’ LIVES:
PHOTOGRAPHY AS A TOOL FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

2.         DATE             -            13-17 MAY 2013.

3.            VENUE         -            PAX, LODGE, LONDON, UK

4.         WHO CAN APPLY-            Senior Guide/ Ranger/ Young Adult Leader (Girls
and young women) between 15 to 24 years old
may apply who fulfill the under-mentioned criteria:
·                    Be nominated by State Association interested in delivering
this project
·                    Be interested in and committed to promotion of children and
maternal health
·                    Have interest in photography (prior experience in photography
Projects is a plus
·                    Have good interpersonal skills
·                    Have working knowledge of English
·                    Have leadership skills
·                    be committed to continuous learning
·                    be able and committed to apply learning upon return to their
Country

5.            REGISTRATION FEE    -            500 USD (i.e. Rs 27,500/- INR) (Which
Covers breakfast, lunch, dinner and accommodation for 6 days.

                        We are expecting WAGGGS will fund the Registration fee, some funding to participants to cover travel, accommodation and living expenses and provide individual cameras and hard drives for backup storage to all the training participants in London. Hence, please note that a limited number grants are available for the Member Organizations.

               The application (enclosed) of the eligible and interested candidates duly recommended and forwarded by their State Association should reach to National Headquarters, New Delhi on or before 30th March 2013 along with caution money of Rs 3000/- ( non-refundable if selected and not participated) by Demand Draft payable to Director, BS&G, New Delhi. Application will be considered on “First Come First Serve Basis” as only limited seats are allotted to our Country.
