SUB:-  ASIA PACIFIC ADULT LEADERS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR UNIT LEADERS, DISTRICT/STATE LEADERS (GUIDE WING) - 2013. 
Dear Sir/Madam,

            To promote recruitment and retention of Adult Membership, Asia Pacific Region of WAGGGS has introduced “Asia Pacific Leader’s Achievement Award” for Unit Leaders, District/State Leaders and the Professionals of NSO’s. These awards aim at recognizing the high standards of Achievement of Adult Members in their responsible roles as per the mission of WAGGGS.



This will be an annual award. Each adult member will receive this award once in her guiding career. Selection will be done at National Level. 15 (Fifteen) awards for the District/ State Commissioner and 50 (Fifty) awards for Unit Leaders/Guiders and Professionals as per the policy of WAGGGS.


The information regarding rules for selection is enclosed for your kind perusal. Nomination should reach National Headquarters through State Headquarters by 30/09/2013 along with a brief report of their achievement through Log Books and with Photographs in uniform.

ASIA PACIFIC LEADERSHIP AWARDS

Aim

To recognize achievement of adult leaders in the Member Organizations of the Asia Pacific Region

Objective

To give incentive and motivation to adults who:
  • are effective role models in their area of service
  • have given outstanding contributions in their area of service
  • have acquired a high level of self-development that has enabled them to provide quality Girl Guiding/ Girl Scouting
There are three types of awards offered by the Asia Pacific Region
  • Asia Pacific Leadership Award for Troop/Unit Leaders
  • Asia Pacific Leadership Award for District/State Leaders
  • Asia Pacific Leadership Award for Service to Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting

Description

  • Awards are presented annually after the preceding APR Committee meeting
  • A certificate and an award pin will be presented to the awardees. The Pin may be worn in and out of uniform subject to the directions of their National Organization

Criteria for Asia Pacific Leadership Award for Troop/Unit Leaders

AP Leadership Award - Unit / TroopNominee must:
  • Be an active member of the Member Organization.
  • Hold a valid warrant or certificate or its equivalent to demonstrate that she qualifies to lead girls/young women in the troop/unit.
  • Achieve recognition at national level as an outstanding troop/unit leader, either in the form of an award, certificate or equivalent credentials.
  • Have made a significant contribution as a volunteer in her troop/unit in the last 5 years.
  • Continue to develop herself and in her role as adult leader to girls/young women.
  • Have influenced and helped another adult to be a Girl Guide/Girl Scout troop/unit leader.
  • Have cooperated with local bodies, government organizations and/or Non-Government Organizations to involve her troop/unit in community development projects suited to her troop/unit.
  • Have promoted effectively WAGGGS initiatives to the girls and young women in her troop/unit.
  • Have a positive and constructive relationship with the girls/young women in her troop/unit.

Criteria for Asia Pacific Leadership Award for District/State Leaders

AP Leadership Award - District/StateNominee must:
  • Be an active member of her Member Organization.
  • Hold a valid warrant or certificate or its equivalent to demonstrate that she qualifies to lead adults in the District/State.
  • Achieve recognition at national level as an outstanding District/State leader, either in the form of an award, certificate or equivalent credentials.
  • Continue to develop herself and in her role as District/State leader for adults.
  • Have made a significant contribution as a volunteer in her District/State in the last 5 years
  • Have influenced and helped another adult to be a District/State leader.
  • Have cooperated with local bodies, government organizations and/or Non-Government Organizations to organize community development projects suited to her District/State.
  • Have promoted effectively WAGGGS initiatives to her District/State.
  • Have a positive and constructive relationship with the adults and young women in her District/State.
  • Have promoted a balanced representation of age in decision-making positions at her District/State and have a positive and constructive relationship with the girls/young women in her troop/unit.

Criteria for Asia Pacific Leadership Award for Service to Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting

AP Leadership Award - Service to GGGSNominee must:
  • Be employed full-time by the Member Organization for at least 5 years OR have volunteered for at least 5 years.
  • Have consistently performed her job responsibilities at a level above and beyond normal expectations.
  • Have given significant contribution to the promotion of Asia Pacific and WAGGGS within and outside the organization.
  • Is a role model to other staff/volunteers.
  • For staff only - engage volunteer and staff involvement beyond job, within and outside the organization.
  • For staff only - have continued to develop herself in her role as professional staff.

Ways of Work

  • Applications to the awards are open to all Member Organizations from 1 September to 30 November every year.
  • Applications must be submitted to the address stated in the application form. Applications received after the deadline will not be entertained unless a written agreement had been reached with the Asia Pacific Regional Committee.
  • Each Member Organization may nominate:
  1. not more than 50 candidates per year for the AP  Leadership Award - Troop/Unit Leaders.
  2. not more than 15 candidates per year for the AP  Leadership Award – District/State leaders.
  3. not more than 5 candidates per year for the AP Leadership  Award for Service to Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting.
  • The Chief Commissioner or National President must endorse the application form.
  • The Asia Pacific Regional Committee at its annual meeting will ratify all nominations.
  • The Member Organizations will be informed of the decision in writing.
  • The certificates and pins will be forwarded to the Member Organizations not later than 2 months after the approval.
  • The Member Organizations are encouraged to hold a presentation ceremony to present the awards.
  • An awardee can only be awarded once in a lifetime for each type of award.
